Good afternoon everyone! I introduce myself to the forum and apologize to the moderators and users if it is not the right site.
I have a Daystar quark chromosphere filter and i will soon get a sw 72ed refractor. I have heard that this filter can sometimes come defective. How do I know if it's okay when I try it next week? I'll use it on that refractor and a star adventurer mount or the azeq 6 I have. Greetings and thanks

Re: Forum presentation and question about Daystar quark
A very warm and sunny welcome
You are absolutely right to have worries, but you will know straight away if you are not happy.
First thing, relax, smile, enjoy the unboxing. Try it out on your scope and have a look at the Sun. Take a look at GONG first https://gong2.nso.edu/products/tableVie ... hAlpha.cfg
Can you see anything similar?, do you see the features on the disc as shown on GONG. If not don't panic.
The next thing you have to do is investigate all the dial settings as 0 point might not be the one for you. Find a nice filament and try each dial setting, which one gives you the best contrast. I did a little write up of how to do this, give yourself at least 2hrs as it takes 10 minutes for the Quark to warm up for each setting https://solarnutcase.livejournal.com/12257.html
Good luck and enjoy, you might have a lovely one

Mis disculpas por la tardanza en contestar. De momento todo bien pero lo que noto son como unos anillos concentricos, pueden ser los anillos de newton? Uso la cámara zwo 174mm. SaludosMontana wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 9:22 am A very warm and sunny welcome
