It is a telecentric amplifier, so it turns a scope of f/7 to f/28 or say f/10 to f/40. Usually placed before a solid etalon, like a Solar Spectrum or DayStar Quantum or Quark Combo. Maybe a PST etalon with no lenses, but I understand that air-spaced etalons are extra sensitive to focal ratio and f/28 is not enough. The normal price is several times that.
