Given my initial results with the PST mod idea, (see the thread on the "thin band"), I am likely to abandon this, store or sell the parts and return to the SM60 etalon and BF10/BF15 idea. Or a Lunt 60, or something along those lines.
Accordingly, I am thinking to find either a complete SolarMax 60 scope,or the etalon and BF separate. I might even think of trying the SM40 etalon etc.
What have you?

Looking Again: SM60 etc
Re: Looking Again: SM60 etc
Hello Gary.
Pity to have to abandon the PST mod route as when it works well it offers significant performance at low cost. The advantage of the 60mm Lunt/Coronado types is the compactness and suitability for whole disk imaging. My experience of the Solarmax telescopes has been that the separate etalon and BF arrangement used on a good stand alone telescope seems to outperform the bespoke item, separate items also give you more options.

Hi Peter,
Yes, a shame. I figure I'll try it some more, but the lazy side of me says "get the SM60". Can't hurt to try it again though.
