Lunt LS60THa Solar scope with LS50 additional filter
Lunt LS60THa Solar scope with LS50 additional filter
Offering for sale my approx. 2 year old Lunt LS60THa solar scope. This is the standard version without the pressure tuner.
Excellent condition both mechanically and optically. Crayford style dual speed focuser offers smooth operation throughout.
Includes B1200 blocking filter to make the telescope ideal for both visual observing and imaging. I have taken some excellent images with it.
Also have LS50FHa filter to use the LS60 in double-stack configuration. This narrows the observed bandwidth and increases both the contrast and amount of detail visible on the solar disk. Inevitably produces a fainter image though.
Both scope and LS50 filter both come with their own aluminium carry cases and a TeleVue SolFinder is also attached.
Will deliver within the UK only.
Asking price: £1700 for the LS60 with the LS50 doublestack filter or
£1100 for the LS60 on its own
£750 for the LS50 filter on its own
I am in Essex, UK. Send me email direct to [email protected] or send PM if interested.
Thanks for looking.

Yes Mark probably a bit too good really. I could justifiably offer this at setup at £2000 but I want a quick sale as I'm raising funds for an LS152...

Re: Lunt LS60THa Solar scope with LS50 additional filter
Thank you very much and I look forward to making some positive contributions. I am planning a move away from imaging DSOs and towards solar observing/imaging.
Hopefully upgrading from the LS60 I currently have to an LS152 in the very near future hence the sale above.

I hate to put a fly in the ointment here, but you will find you can use a 152 in the UK really not very often due to less than ideal seeing. gary Palmer did quite a comparison a while back between the 152 and a coronado 90, and the 90 produced consistently better results than the 152 as a result of UK seeing being less than ideal most of the time. I think, realistically, you will only get decent results out of a 152 maybe 3-4 times a year. You'd be much better (IMHO) with a Lunt 100 or a coronado 90, you will get a lot more usable use out of it. Aperture is not King in solar where crap seeing rules.

I have to second that very much. I have all sorts of scopes, but my place (eastern Switzerland ) is not forgiving for anything above 100-127 mm opening

Re: Lunt LS60THa Solar scope with LS50 additional filter
Thanks all for the feedback, all of which is of course appreciated and noted. I will be observing from two locations, the UK and South Africa where my partners mother lives. Hopefully if not from the UK I should be able to get some good images with it out there.
I know the night skies are much better there! Also the Sun is quite a bit higher in the skies during their summer which will help. Anyhow lets see if my LS60 sells first!

Re: Lunt LS60THa Solar scope with LS50 additional filter
I sure will. Long time since I've looked forward so much to receiving a telescope! I can't say that my images will be up to the amazing standard of the previous owner but with practice who knows.. bought a straight through B1800 blocking filter ready for it.
Do I feel another tacky ;'unboxing' video for YouTube coming on?... I think not.
