Imaging AR12835 in 540nm light. 7-1-21
Session time is from 13:50 to 16:00 UTC. Very intermittent sun under mostly cloudy skies. Rain sent me in around noon local time. The seeing is below average and the temperature is 82F. ( 27.8 C ) I never had a chance to observe visually or image in Ha. I only have three 540nm filtered continuum images. They were done using the ZWOASI178MM monochrome camera on my Celestron NexStar 102 GT refractor using the Altair solar wedge. Image acquisition was done using ZWO's ASIStudio and editing using GIMP.

Thank you James for sharing your own captures which are quite excellent.
I must admit, I haven't even tried the ASI Studio yet, so perhaps tomorrow I will try that prog out and if no Sun, will try some older RAW files.
Cheers
Terry

I don't see anyone here using the ASI Studio software. It seems straightforward and user-friendly. Today was the first time I have tried it.
A little while later I used the Lunt 8x32 SUNoculars. The large sunspot of AR12835 is sizable even at that low of a magnification. It should be visible unaided with a filter. I could also see a few of the smaller spots trailing it!

Great details captured in AR2835/2836 James...nice work
I have mixed impression of ASI Studio, though of all its offerings I have used it for some deep sky imaging using the cooled ASI294MC camera. I guess I have use other software for so long that I I have yet to feel comfortable with it.
Terry, the ASI software is for image acquisition not processing.

Brian,
Same here. I have gotten used to SharpCap.
Thanks Brian but they just don't quite show enough detail. Seeing wasn't that great today either.

Don't knock them James, at that scale that is about the level of detail you will see. I think they are great

Very, very good images, James, great resolution and detail. White light is very satisfying, specially when the sunspots are large and complex.

Re: Imaging AR12835 in 540nm light. 7-1-21
Nice imaging James, well done. Like Brian I have tried ASI Studio on Deep Sky and I have found it lacks a lot of features. I must admit it's very easy to use. My main capture software for Deep sky is Sharpcap and for Solar and Lunar I use Firecapture.
