June 17th Lunar Terminator

Post by MapleRidge »

Hello everyone...

I haven't been able to do any solar work this week, but the moon was looking so nice in the early evening pre-sunset sky that I took some time to open the dome and run some images with the new Orion 130 EON. The terminator is always so richly detailed, and last night was no exception.

The first image was taken at prime focus (910mm) with the ASI1600MM camera:

The next image is a multi frame mosaic captured with the ASI174MM with a 3x focal extender boosting the focal length to 2,730mm. I clipped the images off to focus on the terminator features:

I'm hoping to get some solar in on Saturday...providing today's rain slows work down enough to stay home :o

Take care,
Brian

Looks like the new toy is working great, Brian. Some nice detail along the terminator.

Superb, Brian. I just love the ruggedness of the Lunar landscape with oblique lighting, especially when beautifully imaged as you’ve done here.

Great work.

Hello brian,
Absolutely superb captures and the lengthened version certainly takes us so-close to the surface with such fine-detail too.

Very well done and thanks for sharing
