Good day everyone...
First, I hope that all are well in their respective communities.
The spring migration of Sandhill Cranes started over the weekend, and although I could hear them they stayed out of view. When I came home tonight I saw a small number of cranes in the field east of the house, so I grabbed a few pics. They were not close by, so the details are not as good as last fall when they were quite comfortable wandering into the back yard at times

Re: Sandhill Cranes Return
Franco...thanks for your comments!!!
I am using a Canon 60D, with a 70-300mm zoom lens (set at 300mm for the pics)...I think it is a Sigma lens
They only stay a short time in the spring, but hang out for over a month or more in the fall when they sort though the stubble for grains lost on the ground during harvest.

Re: Sandhill Cranes Return
It's always good to see birds when they appear on their seasonal migrations. Nice picture, I hope they get braver and closer Brian.

Re: Sandhill Cranes Return
How lovely to see them return home again, you know that summer is definitely on the way now I felt that leap for joy last week when I heard the Chiffchaffs singing here

Re: Sandhill Cranes Return - New Pics Added
Thanks Mark and Alexandra for your comments!!
A few of the birds spent the late afternoon in the hay field just north of the house, staying much closer than last night. I think these are a female and three suitors based on their flirting behaviour before I got the camera out. While I was getting the pics there was a pair of Canada Geese land in the field, but further away...one stood out above the old growth.
