Evening and morning walks

Post by Montana »

Here are some shots of the countryside from our evening walks recently. The flowers are Wild Garlic.

Very nice and interesting gate. Are you allowed to harvest the wild garlic or does it not produce usable fruit or vegetable or however it is called ?

Thanks guys :) I have no idea why the last image is repeated as it is only in the post once. It is also surrounded by a white box which is odd too, I would remove it if I could but I can't find the mysterious second image?

Anyway, back to the Wild Garlic, we have so much in the woodland around here that the air from our house is filled with the garlic scent at the moment, it is the best part of spring after the Bluebells. Yes, you are allowed to forage the Garlic, it grows like a weed and so is not endangered. You can eat the flowers, the leaves are fantastic in salads and you can eat the bulbs although they are small and not worth it. Most people eat the leaves and flowers. The dairy cows are the ones that love to eat the leaves and apparently it flavours their milk :) they were certainly tucking into it the other day :)

Beautiful walks, Alexandra. These really are the best times of the day to be out in the countryside, at one with nature.
