Backyard Visitors...one more added

Post by MapleRidge »

Hi everyone...

Though I have not had much opportunity to do any solar work in the later half of May, we have had a lot of activity around the bird feeders and yard, so with a camera at my side most time I have gathered a few pics.

Wow!! these just made my day :hamster: :hamster: :hamster: look at that hummingbird!! refracted sunlight or what!

It is amazing how many I got right, only realised on the second pass that they were all labelled. Couldn't get the Common Grackle and the Oriole and the female indigo bunting, I'm learning :)

Thanks Alexandra...More birds at the feeder this spring than ever! I wasn't sure if many would return after a very limited number all winter.

The Bunting is my best guess for those birds...neighbour agrees with the ID, but I stand to be corrected ;)

The Hummingbird was bit of a cheat...this was taken from about 3 feet away so you could zoom in and get the feather details. I suspect this one was either injured or starving since it sat on the feeder for several days and moved very little. I suspect they arrived from the their migration to find very few flowers out and stayed at feeder till it built up some stamina. It wasn't any more than 15 mins after the pics was taken that it flew much further out. Also, this was taken at a friends cottage...but we had some appear at the feeder at home in the past week.

Glad you liked them!

Brian

Thanks everyone :bow

There are few species I've missed but this is a good representation of the daily visitors.
