Dawn and Before. The last few days.

Post by Derek Klepp »

I am enjoying these winter mornings and as the moon dissappears I will have a week or two trying to get the setting milky Way.

Hi Derek,

Very good. Are those red and green lights for water navigation ?

Beautiful photography Derek, it must be beautiful wandering around in the peace and quiet of the night. Do you ever run into trouble? I have been going out to our local cow field to image the comet this past week around 2-3.30am in the morning, beautiful and peaceful experience to be surrounded by the heavens, and I never even gave it a second thought until my mother went mad that I went alone :)

Thanks everyone .Yes Rainer they are navigation lights .When i was a child 40 years ago there were up to 40 prawn trawlers now there is one and a handful of professional fishermen.
Alexandra I Seldom run into trouble I had years of security jobs in my youth and am always very diplomatic.Mind you I do keep my cool when all the illegal campers take up the waterfront spots. The other day a man tried to sell me acid at 5am in the morning we had a lovely conversation about photography and he was glad to see me the next day.
I also find that in the early hours there are never many people around . I have been walking around these areas at night since I was 12 or 13 it is my home and I have become very good at avoiding people if there are too many campers I will simply light them all up with my spotlights and go elsewhere.
Night vision gets worse as I get older  .
