Maple Ridge Observatory - Autumn Pics, Part 1

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

The cold, grey, drizzle laden skies have spoiled any astronomy endeavours today, but it has provided an opportunity to work in the office and sort though photos taken over the past month. The progression into the fall coloured landscapes has occurred quickly and the arrival of the fall migratory birds is in full swing too.

So Part 1 of this post will highlight some of the pics of the Autumn landscape I have have taken photos of this week...camera is a Canon 60D fitted with either a 70-300mm or 17-250mm zoom lens. Welcome to my world ;)

A wide contrast in colours is evident...they don't all change at once. My winter heat source needs to be brought home soon, LOL

Fall is a busy time here, with harvest of soybeans and corn crops. The soybeans next to my home were harvested last Monday (Sept 28th), producing a record crop for my neighbour Paul. Here is the combine filling one of his trucks with cash ;)

Since the harvest photo was taken we have had a lot of mixed weather and storms. On the evening of October 1st the rain clouds had cleared overhead but the sunset was a spectacular sight

In a few weeks the wind will have the trees stripped bare, but it is always a gorgeous sight each fall, and no two are ever the same.

Stunning images and colors, Brian. I am South of you by not much but the colors have not changed yet so dramatically. Nice to see what it looks like in your surroundings.

Thanks Franco :bow

I'm not surprised to hear you haven't had the fall colours set in yet...there is a 3 week or so difference between home and the NEAF location in NY, and you have the moderating effect of the ocean stretching your seasons out too.

You can't believe how much I enjoyed these Brian :hamster: all the trees are still green here, a vague hint of brown maybe coming ;)
