Sugar Bush Starlight - Part 2

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

I have had another full day and night in the bush making syrup, with good weather and heavy sap runs I can hardly keep up. I am posting this form the bush...shortly after 8pm local time on Sunday night. I have the generator running for power, laptop ready, and hotspot setup on the cell for internet...if I could get food delivered I hardly need to head back to the house  The images were all taken with a Canon 60d and Rokinon 14mm lens, and 20 second exposures.

I did some images last night with the moon lighting up the sugar bush, which added an interesting perspective to the starfield behind the trees. This first image is looking south, with the sugar shed in the foreground with steam rising in the moonlight and some embers glowing as they drift away form the smoke stack. The stars of the constellation Hydra are visible through the trees :

The second image is looking to the west as the winter Triangle is setting behind the buildings at the neighbours, with the Moon as well:

High in the south-east finds Leo in the tree tops:

Finally, one of my favourite sign of spring...Ursa Major rising high the north-east, with the Big Dipper appearing to be standing on its handle:

That all the images form last night...I will have a few hours more to boil tonight before I pack it in. If it is clear where you are, go out and look up...those suns look the same for us all :) Hopefully you don't have light pollution so bad it hides them :(

Take care,
Brian

Great shots, Brian!

Love the light painting effect the embers cause.

Lovely images, Brian. A nice retreat in the woods with lovely clear skies. I guess it's a little bit out of reach for Deliveroo

Wow!! I also like the shots with the ember trials in too, it gives a fairy magic to the whole scene. These are just fantastic Brian :hamster:

I guess if you are hungry you could cook some pancakes to go with the maple syrup

Jochen, Stuart, and Alexandra...

Thanks for your comments ion the views :bow

The moonlight really put a bit of a ghostly glow to the trees, but it caught the impression I was after.

Stuart, we are a bit out of town so the deliveries get to be pretty expensive ;) Alexandra, there is no plat surface on the evaporator to be able to cook anything, though it would be nice. It is only 2 miles from the bush to the house, so a few trips home are needed through the day anyway...I just have to stock up on snacks to keep me going

Super shots, Brian. All great, but the last one with Ursa Major is my favorite.

Hi Brian,

Very good Nightscape images. The fire sparkles make it more interesting

Beautiful images, Brian. So many stars in the last image, I was lost.
