Ospreys

Post by ffellah »

Hello all: these are from one of the three osprey nests we have in Westport. They seem to be doing really well and having a family...

Great shots, Franco.

Very rare over here unfortunately, but such beautiful birds.

Are you trying to make my heart flutter :girl:

The most beautiful top bird in the world in my opinion, they are what brought me to birdwatching as a small child :hamster:

Amazing images and to have them nesting in your home town is a dream, cute babies too!

Thank you Jochen, Terry and Alexandra. These are truly beautiful birds: a couple of weeks ago we saw one fishing right outside my office, that faces the Saugatuck River. We are very fortunate to have them here, and be able to observe them in relatively close proximity.

Did you photograph the birds with a telephoto lens or a small telescope? The lens looks really sharp.

Hi: I use a Nikon P900 with 83x zoom. It has ED glass, I find it ideal for birding. I adjusted levels on all of them an a bit of sharpness on the last one.

oh wow, a Coolpix. Not even a DSLR. That's really good. Did you point it at the Moon yet? The specs say equivalent to 2000mm FL for a 35mm camera.

You are right, I should try it on the moon: I have used telescopes on the moon so far.
