Steven,
I see coyotes quite a bit here too and hear them more often. The ones I see here tend to be a more gray-brown on color but I saw one up on the Blue Ridge Parkway that was almost white!

They do hybridize with dogs sometimes giving them a more doglike appearance. Yours shows one with somewhat smaller ears, like a dog than some I have seen.

Nice pic!

James

He almost looks like a fox :) is he up to his knees in mud too.

What a glorious animal, the only wild dog like animal we have here is a fox and they are such special animals to come across. Several times over the years I have been walking into work at 7am in Manchester and a fox has just trotted past me on the pavement. It makes me smile from ear to ear all day. Of course I always say good morning when he passes :)

Great! I see him for the first time, we don’t have such. He looks like a dog, a wolf and a fox at once. If I met him, I wouldn't go anywhere close.
