Hello all: just wanted to share with the group that Astra Image has a denoise function that can be helpful. This is an image of AR2824 taken on the 23rd of May. The mono version is not denoised, the color version is. I think it is effective, if applied correctly. Interested in hearing your opinions.

Much better, I had the dots we get in solar images, the Sun isn't dotty 
I use NeatImage and love it, I think Topaz AI denoise is good too

Looks good Franco.
Denoising (I use Topaz Denoise AI) is part of my standard workflow as well. For HA at least, in CaK/WL it tends to eat fine detail (which you don't want obviously) and the noise in those is much less obvious anyway.

I definitely have problems with noise in my images because, generally, I only stack a few images (~25) out of a 2000 frame video. It’s always a bit finicky to coax out the fine details without amplifying the noise. I’ve shied away from denoising filters but this Astra Image version seems to work well.

Wow. That is a huge difference, though I would not have identified the noise in the original image belt itself. Is there a danger of losing true data?

Thank you all for your comments and feedback. Peter: glad you can use this. I also was not using denoise sofware, but with Astra Image it is so easy to use, compare images and see results. I will start using it going forward, when noise is a problem. David: for the purpose of posting images on this forum, I do not believe the minor changes the software does substantially affect the image. It also sounds like many of the very experienced members routinely use this available tool.
