May 10 AR12822

Post by LeoD »

Hi All
Today was the second short session with 130/7 Lunt80 SS mod. Let's say, AR12822 closeup and prom on SW limb came out quite Ok with 174mm+TZ-4. Tried to proceed with DS, but seeing has deteriorated quickly.
regards
Leo

Thanks to all, very appreciated!
Mark, you were interested in the TS APO 130/7 Lunt80MT mod details. Well, in fact, I made the simplest adapter between the frac and etalons with the Lunt stock focuser as it is. At first sight, the sweet spot is about to cover FD with SS and all proms are visible around the limb, but I didn't investigate it well yet in DS mode. I use the setup with full aperture Baader D-ERF 135 keeping a red glass filter before the front etalon. I'll make further comparison with my Quark Chromo, but it's clear there are advantages of uniform FOV, no vignetting issues scaling down with focal reducers etc. I understand there is no free lunch in such cases, but at the moment it looks promising to use Lunt rear DS system.
Hope this helps.
Clear skies
Leo
