test on 3 images taken on 2014 / 2015
204 mm refractor +herschelwedge Baader density 2 + barlow 3x + continuum filter
I've never obtained this kind of details ;) I'm happy ...
Then in few weeks a new camera : Basler 1920-155...so good ;) !

Phillipe, wonderful images. I have switched to using IMPG all the time now, gives the best results.

Nice images, Phillippe !

Two questions:
Philippe TOSI wrote:

204 mm refractor +herschelwedge Baader density 2 + barlow 3x + continuum filter
1. Is this imPPG has the deconvolution routine L-R ?

2. Do you use Baader solar film or do you use only a Herschel prism with it's two filters?

Thanks,

Valery

Thank you Valery
1 : Yess LR with sliders on imPPG, very easy to use.

2 : no good images with astrosolar. only the objective with Herschelwedge + 0, 9 density filtre 2" + Continuum 31, 75mm behind the 3x televue barlow lens.

Great job, Philippe, that's the proper detail level from such aperture.

Though I must admit when I reprocessed some of my old WL images (from 180 mm at f/15, Solar Continuum, 3.75 μm pixel) with ImPPG, I had the impression that granules look slightly better (sharper) when using wavelets (in Registax 6).

Valery, for ImPPG see the link in my signature.

Picture 2 definitely looks best from a distance but has a lot of noise close up, picture 1 is nice and smooth but perhaps over-sharpened a little. However, they are all infinitely better than I could ever do :bow :bow :bow

yes Alexandra i think too.
the most important is to move the sliders very
slowly .
the image must be as natural as possible.
perhaps a mix between registax6 and imPPG

This is a question of money and patience invested (assume that your processing on the same level due imPPG help).

Just build or buy an 8" refractor tweak it with imaging train and hunt for the great seeing. Time to time it must happen at your location.

Very easy! :))

yes Valery It's right ;)
approx 3400 euros only for the tube, self made construction.
the seeing is very important so, but on my observatory never better than 6-7/10.
most of time 4-5/10 maximum.
