SolarChat!

This new Blackfly S has a sensor that matches the size of the 2.8 Mp G3 (2/3 inch), has very nice dynamic range and other specs but has twice tha resolution and 3 times the frame rate of 75 frames/s, easily achievable at 8 bits pixel depth. It also shares the Spinnaker software with my other Blackfly S (1.6 Mp) which will take more work to be able to use comfortably. Both cameras produce files which often have to be converted to .avi or .ser before Autostakkert can use them (easy to do but time consuming). I'll post some prom images next day if suitable. I also have to add that the image at maximum resolution is uniform from edge to edge. My G3 shows an effect called "video shadowing" which has the effect of showing light grey bands along the edge of the long dimensions of teh frame in live view

Alexandra: The camera costs $1095USD, half the price of Grasshopper 3 (2.8Mp). Note that there currently is no other driver software that will run
these new Blackfly S cameras besides Spinnaker and that there is a lot of jumping between windows that control settings, video format, and recording, giving a somewhat cluttered desktop.

This is not really difficult but I admit I find it tiresome.

I'll add that the images shown were taken at 68 frames/s with an LS152 and 20% of 3000 frames were stacked. I ran out of memory several times during recording and had to clear some unnecessary files. When that happens the software gives a memory warning but stores the frames taken to that point.
The buffer also takes some time to clear with large files.

Concerning the format of the files recorded: I'm pretty sure there is a way of instructing the software to record avi files but I haven't found it yet.
I currently record uncompressed files and convert them to avi or ser files
