Large Prominence, 09-07-18

Post by MalVeauX »

Heya,

Horrible seeing today, and ridiculous stormy weather with several major cyclone storms off the coast and a hurricane on our Eastern side. I suppose I'm lucky to see the sun at all, let alone get data on it. I was hoping for fair seeing and attempted to image at large scale, but the seeing barely supported even attempting anything. Then a rain system came in, so that shut down my day. Not even 09:30am yet and it's over. Hah, sunny Florida...

Great image Marty. I have seen that prominence on the screen of my PC while imaging the disc in Ca-H, it was really impressive.

For fun, around 4:45pm, there was a small break in the clouds. I couldn't help myself. So, I grabbed some CaK data and animated it.

Excellent images, I saw the proms on GONG and thought they looked nice.

Also the animation is very interesting, it shows exactly what Mark T's animations do, a strange circular motion of the super granulation spicules, it is very hypnotic.
