New small group and CaH granulation

Post by krakatoa1883 »

Today a small new group is visible in the N hemisphere, its latitude is not very high so it may still belong to the 24th cycle. There are two tiny spots without penumbra here, surrounded by a bright facular and plage area (the facula is well visible through the continuum filter) but three/four more pores are forming in other areas closer to the equator.

As the chromosphere is quiet I had some fun imaging a small part of it through my Quark Calcium and 80mm TMB achromat

That's a nice set of images Raf! It's good to see an emerging flux region, wonder how much it will develop. Definitely cycle 24, it's only about ~20n, cycle 25 spots will emerge around ~50n.

Thanks my friends for your kind comments :) Hope the new region will last enough to allow some fine imaging. This afternoon the surrounding plage was quite bright when observed in H alpha.
