NEAF
Hi all...
I was wondering if those attending NEAF wanted to plan to meet on Saturday...pick a time and vendor to get together or even take time to sit down over lunch?
I think I have seen Eric, Franco, Rainer, and Ovind conform they are attending, and I should be there soon after opening.
If you want to PM me I can share my cell number if we need to be able to text or call.
Looking forward to seeing everyone who is there,
Brian

Re: NEAF
I’ll be set up in the solar party as usual. If it’s cloudy I’ll just have the 80mm for peeks. If nice, then the 80 and a 155mm double stack. Maybe also 70mm with CaK and a video camera.

Re: NEAF
I’m leaving in about an hour for NEAF. I’ll try to make the Daystar rendezvous as well. If not I spend quite a bit of time at the Astro-Hutech booth (good friends of mine).
I’m looking forward to getting a Hinode guider this year
It will be great to meet some of you! George, I’ll be sure and look you up on the observing field too. Sunday is looking quite good at the moment.
Safe travels all.

Re: NEAF
Yes please come out. I should be there both days. May set up a little later than usual for the ground to dry a bit first, but it should get sunny even Saturday. So not sure if I'll make DayStar at 10am or will be outside.

Re: NEAF
Hi:
I met Brian, Franco, Christopher, Oivind, Tobe and Rainer, the problem being the transportation to the place where the show is, as also that one feels like a kid in a toy store and you loose the concept of time. :-(.
Best wishes from NEAF.
Stephen is here as also Gary Palmer, we saw the Sun in Ha, CaK and other lights, various filters and scopes. :-))
Eric.

Re: NEAF
It was great to meet up and chat with Eric, Franco, Rainier, and Christopher today at NEAF. There were some photos taken, we just need to get them posted!
I also had a chance to say hi to Stephen and George, and it was a nice sunny day with lots of scopes to try out on the field. It also sounds like Lunt will have some he hardware to introduce later this year as well...more practical than the 12" truss tube monstrosity posted earlier

More images. The one before the giant 12" Lunt refractor is of George and his Astrophysics set-up, that had a spectacular close-up of the two long prominences on the edge of the sun. The spicules were also very well resolved with his scope. He was using a binoviewer.

Re: NEAF
Two lectures were very interesting: Chief NASA Scientist Jim Green talked about the past and future of the moon. Veteran NASA astronaut Don Pettit who spent time on the ISS, showed the drinking cup for no gravity he invented in his down time tinkering with a plastic sheet.Usually astronauts drink with a straw from a pouch. He is also a passionate astro photographer and showed some pretty amazing start trails he shot from the ISS.

Re: NEAF
Just got home. This was my third and best NEAF. I very much enjoyed meeting some of the folks from SolarChat. Brian, Franco, Billy, Eric, Rainer, Stephen, hope you all had a great time as well. The comradery was warm, the weather was kind, the speakers were engaging and the toys were plentiful. What more could you want?!

Re: NEAF
Thanks so much for the nice photo, Franco. I had a steady line all day long Saturday without a single lull. We got lucky on the weather and on the seeing. The tradeoff is that you don't get to play, but I did get around on Sunday before putting up the CaK. Also picked up things like rings for my LS80. And took the plunge on an ASI290. For less than the cost of many eyepieces, I figured I would try it.

Nice to have met you again.
BTW there is something wrong with the phone which took the image. I am not that short and round
Might be a problem of the lens

Re: NEAF
Hi guys!
I am sorry I missed the meeting place and time. My cellphone died when I was turning it on after the flight and I did not have any means of communication during my whole stay. (I had to buy a new phone when I got home, the battery was shorted). But I was there all day both Saturday and Sunday. Too bad I did not recognized any of you. I was wearing the Barlow Bob's SSP yellow sweatshirt and hat. Anyway, a great show and pretty good weather particularly on Saturday. I did meet Stephen and Eric.
I am back in Norway now and am just about ready to start the solar season over here.
All the best from

Hi Oivind...
Sorry to have missed the chance to meet on the weekend, but glad yo hear you enjoyed the show. Too bad the phone battery caused so much trouble.
