A very long awaited GREAT solar spot AR12738! 150mm refractor.

Post by Valery »

Hi all,

FINALLY !!!

We see a new great sun spot at the western limb! Again, as usual, a great sun spot was born on the opposite side of the sun.
Pity that we didn't see how it was born and grew to the present size.
However we should be happy to see it anyway.

I took several photos in a poor conditions under dence cirruces. Seeing sometime was OK.

Telescope was Sky Watcher 150mm F/5 + 2x PowerMate + Standard Quark Chromosphere this gives F/43 at the etalon + 0,5x reducer + Basler 1920-155 camera. Telescope was equipped with a full size ARIES DERF filter.

Here two photos of AR12738 and one of the AR12737.

Thanks for looking.

Valery

Great shots Valery! I saw it coming round on SDO and GONG this morning, but doesn't look like skies will clear here today to get a chance of imaging.

Very best,
I'm sure you meant twenty-two or at least twelve days! Such large sun spots live longer than two days, usually at least twelve days.

It could be AR12736 that returns, its latitude corresponds.

And what with their longidudes? It will be nice if it will live two or thee more rotations!
