For the third day in a row the morning was clear and bright, although it started out somewhat overcast and I thought the opportunity to image was lost. By 9:00 am, however, things had taken a turn for the better and the cloudy sky had miraculously cleared, although, as I found out when I got set up, the seeing conditions were only poor to mediocre. Anyhow, on the basis of some scope time is better than none, here are the results of my efforts.

FD in Cak.

and a coloured version of the same image....

A closer view of AR2738 started to show the limits of the conditions. So tempting to over-sharpen...

Then over to the red end and again the limits showed with some of the finer details unable to be resolved.

Compare this image with one taken a couple of days earlier taken using the same setup (150mm/ DS Lunt35 mod, Basler acA1920-155um and 2.5x Powermate) in which finer details are visible. Seeing and air clarity make all the difference. Click on the images for their best representation.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice shots Stu. Inspired me to take the 4” out for a few peaks through the sucker holes. That AR is putting on a good show!

Excellent results given the conditions. Sometimes (too often!) for us the seeing puts a ceiling on what we can achieve with our images. I'm hoping at some point this Easter break I get chance to get the HaT out, that is if feasible to use it...

Fantastic images Stuart :bow I had exactly the same experience! woke up to cloudy skies and was cross (as it has been sunny all week) but then it cleared enough for me to get just a few snaps in WL and Halpha :) seeing was bad, the horrible bubbly/shaky movement.

Many thanks for your kind comments, everyone. I'm hoping for another session on Wednesday, as according to the weather forecast it's supposed to be sunny....we'll see. Sun is one thing, good seeing is quite another. Hopefully the conditions will be kind.

Good luck everyone if you get the chance to image this beauty before it heads over the limb in a few days time.

Cheers

Stu.
