Quick session this morning May 7th

Post by ffellah »

Hello all: I woke up early this morning and sneaked in a quick session before work (noty!). Seeing was good and the jetstream was favorable. I could not believe how lucky we are to have this pair of sizeable sunspots during solar minimum...I guess life is good today !

Clear skies to all !

Franco

Thank you very much, Maurits, Mark and Raf, for your feedback. The conditions were promising for the HaT scope + 0.7 reducer and Solar Spectum filter: that is what I used. I still need to upgrade the mount, as tracking is still a problem sometimes.

Thank you, Stu, greatly appreciated. I was lucky, the conditions were very favorable, and I do not get that very often. You can see the jetstream map (I am the red dot) and the seeing below.

I reacted on this post in the SPOD section, not the right place of course.
Franco: congratulations, great images! And as I said: there are no better reasons to be late at work than these four.

Nice set of images ! You can probably remove the 0.7 reducer next time.

Thank you, Christian. I will try next time on a single sunspot. The other day I needed a wider FOV to catch both sunspots in one image, but you are right, seeing conditions were right to use the scope at full 27.5 focal ratio.
