Sunday Sun 7th July '19_Cycle 25

Cycle 25.....yippee....

The seeing conditions were awful as these were taken in the late afternoon from my back garden here in the north-west of England. Nevertheless I was excited to see a small sunspot which has been confirmed to be an early one of cycle 25 and wanted to capture it in Cak and hydrogen alpha. Not the best of images given the conditions and I was really struggling to achieve focus, especially in Ha. Tuning may be a little off as well.

First up the FD views in CaK in mono and colour.

And a closer view of the little sunspot in CaK:

Then over to the red on the 150mm/DS Lunt 35 mod:

After all that, I did have an attempt in WL using the Lacerta Brewster wedge. A bit over processed, but again with was a challenge to get anything stable with the air mass moving like a swimming pool.

Thanks for looking.

Excellent capture Stu, these came out well. Too hazy for me to observe this morning.

Fantastic!!! :hamster: it is the first numbered spot of the new cycle and looks like it really developed well yesterday, these are brilliant shots :bow

I must admit I was going to test the CaK wedge out in the afternoon as the sun emerged from the clouds but we both fell asleep after lunch and woke at teatime, either we are getting old or we got too used to siestas in Spain ;)

Ha...ha...so funny, Alexandra. Made me smile. At least you woke at teatime and not at midnight. :)

Your CaK discs are really super, Stu, very effective setup for this wavelength.
