Mercury with a dying Quark

Post by Starry Jack »

I got Mercury but I had to deal with:
-Removing shrubbery
-Removing the roof of the observatory
-Tying back 50' high tree branches
-Morning clouds

And worst of all...my Quark died (yes, Valery, I am sending it back). It never reached GREEN and had horrible contrast.

That said, I did get some screen grabs showing Mercury touching then leaving the limb and I got one useable video which I am very grateful for:

All in all, a wonderful experience nonetheless.

Cheers,
Jack

Jack,

Sorry to hear about the death of your quark, especially at such a crucial time. Still you got a decent picture with Mercury showing a sizable disc.

Glad you got an image though considering the circumstances. I turned on my pc in my observatory yesterday to image with my lunt 60mm and nothing, it was dead too. Thankfully I have a laptop so resorted to that. Bodes law in action.

Oh dear oh dear!! sounds like everyone had a trying experience. Why do these things always happen right on the crucial moment :( I have learned the hard way that astronomy is one of the most disappointing and rewarding hobbys you can have. The highs are amazing and the lows are depressing. However you got that one shot and that is all that counts :hamster: I got 15 seconds of glory too
