Mercury transit and proms
Mercury transit and proms
The weather was nice here today for imaging. I used the LS80 DS for the disk and the Quantum Six scope with a Solar Spectrum etalon for the closeups.

Thank you all for the kind comments and the SPOD.
After all the anticipation and excitement of the transit, as soon as Mercury touched the limb I realized that I would never see that again... and then it was gone.
I felt lucky.

Re: Mercury transit and proms
Thanks Eric and Marty for the kind words.
I processed a series of images and made a short animation. It spans only 10 minutes with 1 frame per minute. I was surprised how fast Mercury moves and how much the Sun changes. I can see why a fast camera and short videos are necessary at that scale.
