10Micron mount daytime setup for solar session

Post by c8er »

A question for 10Micron Eq mount users if there are any here.

I have ordered a 10Micron GM1000 HPS mount which is on its way to me, and I am wondering if anyone can tell me what the daytime mount setup process is for solar sessions (in a portable, not permanent set up, from scratch for each session). I don't see any solar system align type option described in the mount manual like my existing Celestron mounts have. Is there a daytime alignment/model creation method to set a 10Micron mount up in daytime for a solar observation/imaging session, or do you just do some sort of daytime polar align and rely on the encoders and built in default model to track ok then, without any specific model being built on the day?

Do 10Micron mounts have a daytime polar alignment routine like Astro-Physics brand mounts do? I have looked in the GM100HPS mount manual but can't see anything there on daytime portable-rig setup for solar observing, or on daytime polar aligning.

I'd ask this on 10Micron's own forums but they have only given me read-only access there until I have my mount in my hands.

Regards and thanks in advance,
Chris Morriss

Thanks Maurits. I'm very much looking forward to it. Certainly a major upgrade from my Celestron AVX.
