Solarcan special - Merry Christmas

Post by Montana »

Well, my 6 month exposure of the Sun over my back garden from my famous bedroom window (which Father Christmas brought a new sliding opening one :hamster: ) came to a close on Christmas eve.

I actually didn't realise the conservatory roof would cause a reflection. For the keen eyed you can see the electric pylon in this image and compare it to the analemma photo to get orientation. Sadly the top of the Sun tracks are cut off. I presume this is because I put the Solarcan vertical and I need to set it at a slight angle, I wonder what angle I need to try as I will definitely repeat this next year.

I have the original and 2 colour enhanced, yes I did find colour in there!

Merry Christmas everyone, must go as the Christmas dinner needs to be cooked :hamster:

Hi Alexandra...

Impressive solarcan camera image :bow I had been waiting to see the results and it worked very well.

Did you set it up to record as we move through the winter and into the summer months? The conservatory roof fills the bottom 1/3 of the image, so I'd think you could angle it up a fair but to catch the higher sun tracks of summer and maybe reduce the glare for the roof too.

More inspiration for me to set one up...I have the parts, just need to assemble one and play around with the idea.

Enjoy your Christmas diner ;)

Brian

Very nice, Alexandra. I must try one myself someday.

I’m surprised we had so much sun :)

Thanks guys :) I was surprised about the reflection from the roof as I didn't expect that but now I quite like it. The image certainly shows we have sporadic groups of solar tracks and some very empty spaces.

Had my Christmas dinner now and waiting for all the family to arrive and mayhem to begin

That looks really nice, Alexandra.

I'll be honest and admit that I didn't know that this was a thing. Might have to try that myself now :)

Thanks everyone for all the kind words :hamster:

I found out from Stephen that I need to put the pin hole higher up next time and not use the one in the middle. It needs to remain vertical (the can).
