Full Disc 11 January 2020

Post by rsfoto »

Hi,

:hamster: Sunshine again and so here some full discs in H-alpha as well as White light. It is interesting to see that the old cycle 24 spot on the equator is not visible in WL but the new cycle 25 at about 30° South is visible in WL.

Brilliant! Those polar filaments in both hemispheres are an indication cycle 25 activity is just below the surface.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for that explanation. That is what I was going to ask if they mean something

This cycle 25 is my second cycle as I started around 2008

Superb full discs :hamster: :bow
In WL you can only observe faculae at the limb, when the cycle 24 AR gets to the limb you will see it :)

The one at the equator is cycle 24, it is in the middle, that is why you cannot see it in WL yet. When it reaches the limb you will see it's faculae too :)

Hi Alexandra,

Thanks. Did not correctly understand what you wrote and therefor I thought you were referring to the fact that when cyle 25 spots start to arise then I can see them.

Sorry for the confusion ...
