CaK disc and ARs of January 12

Post by krakatoa1883 »

Really bad seeing today with much high and low (thermal) turbulence however I couldn't resist to take some images. No spots but several filaments and two active regions were visible, the unnamed one close to the center of the disc and AR12755 at the SW limb. Through my Quark I could detect only few very minor proms, however sky is slightly hazy due to severe air pollution and faint proms may have been difficult to see. SDO images show nothing at the E limb for now.

As usual I made use of my Tecnosky 115 mm apochromat with Lunt PT or CaK modules, thanks for looking.

Those still came out great, despite of the conditions. Nicely done.

Thanks Alexandra and Marty, much appreciated your comments.

I love CaK too, I would say even more than H-alpha, unfortunately there is nothing to see visually at this wavelength although I have read that those who had the cataract removed are sensitive to the near UV.
