Kanzelhoehe Solar Observatory

Post by marktownley »

I take a group of students skiing for a week next month, imagine my surprise when the tour company switched the resort we are staying at from northern Italy to Austria, only for me to find our hotel is less than 100 metres from the Kanzelhoehe solar Observatory https://www.kso.ac.at/index_en.php

Anybody ever been there, anyone know someone who works there? It's open daily and has a visitor centre, but i'm more interested in getting up close to the hardware https://www.kso.ac.at/instrumente/instr ... n.php#uewi

If anyone can give me in roads i'd appreciate it.

Mark

Hi Mark,

May I suggest that you click on the staff link under ‘presentation’ and email Dr Baumgartner. Let him know your a solar imaging specialist etc... and see if he’ll give you privileged access. I’m sure he’ll be interested when you explain the global reach of Solarchat, point him to your web page and tell him about the outreach activities many here are involved with.

Worth a try.

Stu.

Wow!! that would be a trip of lifetime. When I have e-mailed staff there they have always replied so I should think they are probably rather friendly.
Good luck and keep us posted :hamster:
