Full disc 22 February 2020

Post by rsfoto »

Hi,

Sunshine with very very thion high cirrus but very uniform in coverage and so hear we go. I added the magnetogram with a difference of about 30 minutes earlier to my imaging session for comparison. The magnetogram image was rotated by 19.64° in CW so it depicts my orientation.

The plagues at 20° and 25° South have cycle 25 polarity Pos / Neg :bow and the one at 5° has cycle 24 polarity Neg / Pos

Hi,

I made a video overlaying the SDO magnetogramm image over my Ha image. Interesting to see that many black and white polarity spots do coincide with some prominent plagues

I need to learn how to interpret the magnetogram images.

Hi James,

White is Positive and Black is negative.

For cycle 25 (coming cycle) the polarity is Positive / Negative in the Southern hemisphere and Negative / Positive in the Northern hemisphere.

For vertical polarity I have no idea.

Cycle 24 is opposite.

Condition for judging this is the correct orientation of the Sun poles. North is up and East on the Left. This you can find out with time when we have more detailed Sun spots.

Rainer

Excellent images and I really love the overlay, plage is the root of the magnetic fields so it it is not surprising that it matches, I really love this. A long time ago I overlaid the magnetic field lines and this is also fun to do. Took me ages to find this and it wasn't on Flickr for some reason ;)
