April 2nd Session

Post by MapleRidge »

Hello all...

I managed to finish processing the images from Thursday (April 2nd), which was a great follow-up to the previous day as AR2459 and a few proms continue to impress.

The full disk is a composite of separate disk and limb exposures through the LS80T/DSII/B1800Ha solar scope:

Below is a longer exposure which pulls up the fainter prom on the western limb:
Proms.jpg
Proms.jpg (59.59 KiB) Viewed 4802 times
I made full disk images n WL and CaK through the iStar 150mm, f8 OTA and ZWO 1600MM camera. The WL image is through a Lunt solar wedge/Baader Continuum filter set, and the CaK is with a modified Lunt Solar Wedge/B1800CaK module:

CR150_CaKK_14_33_46-IMP.jpg (559.21 KiB) Viewed 4802 times
Higher resolution images were taken through the modded CR-150/DSII/B1800Ha OTA and the ZWO 174MM camera. The first is a two frame mosaic of AR2759 :

AR2759-FC.jpg
AR2759-FC.jpg (983.85 KiB) Viewed 4802 times
I also tuned the DSII to the red wing and captured the image below:
LS80T_DSII_13_57_21-IMP-RW.jpg

The final images were of the two main proms:

This closes off the Thursday session...questions and comments are always welcome.

Stay safe everyone,
Brian

Brian,
Very nice. I really like the detail shown in the prominence on the last picture. And look at that spicule layer!

I just ordered me an Altair white light wedge which will enable me to use my Astro-Tech AT72EDII and Celestron NextStar 102 refractors for white light.

Stay well and safe

James

Great run of images Brian, glad you've been getting the time for some solar, and glad the weather has been cooperating too, let's hope spring has finally arrived.

Great stuff again, Brian.

Spring seems to have set in here as well (lot of sun the last week or so). Although I probably jinxed it now by saying that.

Thanks everyone for your comments and feedback...always very much appreciated :bow

Here in Southern Ontario, spring is an elusive beast...warm and sunny for a few days early in the week then back to cold and chance of snow

James, congrats on the solar wedge purchase! As cycle 25 grows more active it will provide some awesome sunspot details.

Take care everyone,
Brian
