Okay seeing (fluctuating around 2-3 arcseconds) and some clouds here yesterday, but with enough gaps in between, so I tried to zoom in on the active regions as far as I could get with 90mm. First a one-shot disk (full resolution here: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/499 ... 9f51_o.jpg):

Image

Then a two pane mosaic, with less than perfect flats, so you see the seam (full resolution: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/499 ... 8c05_o.jpg):

And the two active regions in detail:

Kind regards,

Frank

Great shots, Frank. Nice to see the filament on the first FD. Can't see the filament in CAK though.

Hi Frank, very nice images and i have been watching and imaging that small black/pointed area near the upper AR and in the upper central region, over the last three days. I thought at first that it might be something on one of my cameras or scopes, but clearly when moving the scope it was as-is.

I wonder if other have seen this, as it doesn't appears as a Sun-spot, so perhaps (jockingly) a UFO has successfully landed there !!!

Regards
Terry

Oh yes! the full resolution discs are the ones to view :bow :hamster: in full res the join doesn't stand out too badly, how have you joined them? there are several free stitching softwares if you don't have Photoshop that should remove that seem.

Thanks everybody!

Alexandra, thanks for the link! I'm using Gimp to stitch the panes together by hand. When I tried to do a mosaic half a year or so ago I spent an afternoon or two to try out several softwares, but nothing really worked, so I ended up with Gimp. The mosaic above, however, puts together two images that were taken through slight haze, so are not really illuminated evenly, even with flats applied, so maybe not really feasible. In any case pushing the panes around in Gimp pixel by pixel is a bit cumbersome, so next time I'll probably give Autostitch another try!

Terry, interesting observation! I'll keep an eye open for further Klingon, Vogon or any other spacecraft on the sun or nearby!

Frank
