5-6-2020 THREE SUN-SPOTS captured
Whilst watching the cloud-cover from space, I was able to open the roof (in between the rain-showers),
to try out the newly-made F-stoppers on the Orion ED-80 scope for white-light imaging through the HW.
It was suspected that previously too-much light was going through to the HW and SharpCap would not
allow for a slower capture-speed to cater for that
So yesterday I manufactured five F-stops from 10mm to 50mm and today was able to prove that both a
20 and 30mm stops allowed me to capture this image, before the heavy-clouds rolled-over again...
Further AVI images were taken - and yet to be processed..
Yes indeed there are clearly three Sun-spots, so presumably there may be a further fourth, but who knows ?
Clear Skies
Regards
Terry

Also Dan, that's the same scope and DS as yours without a PT...
But using and Altair GPCAM and on a Skywatcher EQ6-ALT/EZ mount.
Cheers

Thanks Rainer.
Was only expecting to test the WL scope, but immediately was surprised - so snapped these.

Re: 5-6-2020 THREE SUN-SPOTS captured
Thank you Everybody for your kind comments.
Hi Mark.
This image was taken during an experiment in stopping-down the Orion ED80T-CF scope, using just its' Lunt Hershel Wedge and a 0.5FR.
The reasoning for this was due to not being able to reduce the SharpCap single-frame capture-time below the available minimum, so I made
for F/stop-down disks of 10, 20, 30,& 40mm for trials to see if that sorted the over-bright images.
I chose the 20mm more by chance/luck - which during that 5-minute cloud-free time, immediately appeared to be correct and just simply
snapped a couple of single-frames, where the other one included some thin clouds, so at a capture-time of 189ms I was a tad surprised to be
able to produce this image. I've still got to try the other F-Stops and I suspect that a 15mm one will prove a little better for both brightness
and contrast. Once I get a suitable F/stop and then try-out some AVI files, hopefully these WL's along with the Ha's and Cal-K's will compliment
each other. Also should then be able to use one of the many Barlow's and filters to improve the imaging too...
Obviously any advice always welcome - thanks.
Just waiting for some clear-skies to
Regards
Terry
