June 8 2020 Observations
I observed for a short time around 1:00pm EDT local time ( US ) through high thin clouds which give the sky a frosted look. Sky nearly overcast. Temp 79F. I only did white light today figuring it would be hard to do Ha today through the clouds.
Orion 70mm Solar Telescope 25x and 50x ( WL )
One larger spot visible in the barely visible facula of AR 12765. It shows a well developed penumbra. I can see 4 pores nearby. SDO shows more. Today's cloudy skies probably obscure some of the smallest ones.

Hey James, I lucked out and had a good session before the clouds rolled in.

Re: June 8 2020 Observations
I am waiting for a clearing to try out my stopped-down Orion ED80T-CF and nearly got a chance this early evening, but not quite.
Thanks
Terry

Nice report James. Glad you got a look. Lots of cloud here today too, so I ended up doing visual only in white light much like yourself.

Re: June 8 2020 Observations
Terry,
Your Orion ED80T-CF is white-light, right?
David,
White light is generally higher in contrast and details like spots seem to penetrate the murk easier than most Ha details. So I run for WL first in murky skies.

Hi James,
Indeed the Orion scope is being used for White Light with a HW. It is also available for night-times too.
Cheers

Re: June 8 2020 Observations
Terry,
I have a 70mm white light solar telescope. It has a glass filter that is fixed in place. I expected only mediocre performance when I bought it. It actually does really well! I would recommend one of these little scopes to anyone.
