7.08.20 A spotty heatwave.

Post by Rusted »

It maxed at "only" 85F air temperature in the shade. 91F in the dome.
Different renditions of the spot throughout the day. Morning and late afternoon.
The seeing became awful around mid day. The trees snatched the sun at 19.00.

Hi Chris,

I see the later images more stable which could be explainable as the Air gets colder

:? :? :?

Thanks Rainer. I would hesitate to suggest anything was cooler after a long, hot, sunny day.
Though you were right about the seeing becoming more stable towards the end [at 7pm.]

This defies all logic because there is far more [heated] atmosphere between the sun and myself the later it gets.
If it was any other celestial object I'd be hoping for more altitude.

My problem is that the sun drops behind very tall trees only a few tens of yards to my west.
The sun is still shining everywhere else except on the deliberately raised dome and our garden.

Looking good there, Chris. Nicely imaged in the heat of the day.

These came out very well Rusted :bow :hamster:

Sometimes we just have to wait for spring or autumn for cooler more stable air, the height of August is never going to be good for seeing unless very early in the morning.

Thank you to all who responded. :bow

It is ironic that only the last image looks "reasonably sharp" [but not very] posted on "Solar Chat!" and viewed on my 28" Samsung HD monitor.

Yet it looks hideously over-processed on my high res. 27" AOC observatory monitor fed by my Hi-res laptop. :o

Logically, I should dump the AOC and start processing my images on the Samsung HD monitor driven by a modest PC.
