A few from August 7th

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

Playing catch-up with image processing from solar session on Friday and Saturday as well as a some planetary images on Friday night.

Starting off with the short session from early Friday afternoon. The full disk image is a composite of separate disk and limb images with the limb inverted. Taken through the :S80T/B1800Ha singe stack solar scope and ZWO 174MM camera:

The full disk showed numerous chromosphere features with AR2770, and several old AR's still in view along with a small filament. I setup the CR-150/DSII/B1800Ha mod and the ZWO 174MM camera with a 2x focal extender to image these in more detail. The first image is the AR and the second is a mosaic of the western disk with the old AR's and filament:

It was a short solar session, but still a nice bit of detail to be found.

I had a long time astronomy friend stop by to help collimate the two SCT's (solar C9.25 Edge and the C14 used for planetary work). We managed to tweak them both and improved their performance. Below are a pair of images of Jupiter taken at the prime focus of the C14, with an IR pass filtered image and an RGB colour as well:

The solar session from Saturday with some C9.25 samples will be posted in the next day or so as time permits (my father is back in the hospital, but so far avoiding colon surgery).

Questions and comments are always welcome,
Brian

Thanks for reminding me that I have to get some planetary shots. :)
Keep well,

Very nice images Brian. The bottom one of Jupiter is awesome!

I will remember your dad in my prayers. I hope Colon surgery is not needed. My dad goes into surgery Friday for a pacemaker.

Nice results, Brian.

Jupiter is looking quite nice as well. Red spot and the shadow from one of it's moons (io?).

Fabulous set Brian :bow :hamster: the Jupiter images are amazing, I was also going to ask is that a shadow transit above the all seeing eye?
Best wishes to your Dad too, I hope he is on the road to recovery soon.

My thanks to all for the comments on the solar and Jupiter images...always appreciated :bow

The shadow in transit is Io's and the moon itself is visible in the bright clouds to the left of the shadow.

Thanks too for the wishes for mr Dad!!!

Brian
