CaK disk, September 11th, 2020

Having seen Ken's and Terry's nice CaK proms last week I tried if I could capture some yesterday. I had to turn up exposure time to 10ms, and it took me some time to pull out the proms from the scattered light in processing, but I think they are visible.

Hi Frank, thanks for the useful images and yes to turn-up the exposure-time a little and/or to adjust the brightness/contrast in the processing stage, does allow for the proms to appear. Also to make an identical image in Ha to compare the differences is useful.

Yours have come out very well...
I guess we will see more of the Cal-K+proms in the future...

Unable to try again today, but hopefully tomorrow.

WoW, impressive. Looks really good!! It makes me think of a GONG CaK image if GONG worked in the CaK band.

Very well done (if not actually an excellent/fab-version) of what Calcium-K can achieve with proms too.

I have just processed today's (13th) Cak-prom image and about to post.

excellent on the SPOD image too...

I suspect we have started something new (or otherwise)...

Thanks for the kind words!

James, you caught me! Actually I had lots of scattered light around the disk and in quite uneven patches. I didn't really mind in the greyscale image, but in the violet version the disk had a faintly coloured rainbow-like looking halo that looked strange and distracting. Making it look like the GONG images was the way to hide the halo...
