Sol from the 15th of September 2020.

Post by eroel »

Hi:
Another bad weather day, just had a gap for taking a set of "surface" and other of the prominences so to make one FD and its versions.
Thanks for looking and have a nice day you all.
Eric.

Super images with the poor viewing conditions. Are your input levels low on the SSM?

Frank and Dan, thank you.
Dan, I calibrated the input of the SSM and set it permanetly to 0.8 input for a clean nice day, so you can imagine how the day looked when it just shows 0.4 and lower as shown in the graph with a lot of shortcuts.
I don not know if it is O.K. to set it as I do, or you have to reset it each time you use it. ¿do you know?
Best regards,
Eric.

Just received my SSM this last week. The newer model self calibrates the input so I can't give advice on which is right. Just noticed the graph.

Dan:
Lets find out how to do it, so to have a standard to compare graphs.
Thank you.
Eric.

Well done Eric, these are super pictures despite the conditions :bow :hamster:

I do the same as you Eric, I keep the SSM set at 0.8 for clear skies. When clouds pass over the input naturally lowers as there is no Sun. It would be a bit of fiddle to keep a pin in the hole to maintain 0.8. If there is no sun the input will be low and the seeing terrible, but I guess you can work that out with your eyeballs :)

Alexandra and James, thanks for the feedback.
BTW Alexandra, nice to know that you do the same with the SSM, so thanks for your comment.
Have a nice day, here it is clouded and raining.
Eric.
