February 24 2021 Observations. Disc images, Finally!

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is from 10:30am until noon EST local time ( US ). The skies are clear with fair seeing. The temperature is 64F.

Coronado SolarMax II 60DS 16x and 21.5x ( Ha )
I can see all three active regions today. AR12804 in the NW is the easiest followed by AR12805 in the south. AR12803 is visible in the north central disc but is more difficult looking more like a mere disturbance in the spicule field.

I can spot two filaments in the south. One in the SW and another in the far south above the pole. I can also see a thin curved filament to the southwest of AR12805.

I can see two prominences. The easiest is a small double one on the NE limb. A larger fainter one is seen on the SW limb.

The mottles show up well today.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
I can easily pick up five spots in AR12804. I can see a number of pores around them. The total number I can see is just under a dozen. I can see two tiny spots/pores in AR12805. I can pick out one tiny pore in AR12803 which surprised me! I can barely see the faculae to AR12804. Granulation is not difficult today.

Outside of using the the SMII60 and Orion70 visually I imaged with the SMII90. I have attached some images from it.

Carpe Lumen!

James

Thanks all of you. It means a lot for an imaging newbie like me.

Here is another one uncolored.

Well done James :hamster: :bow taking it slow is the best way :hamster: great to hear the report and lovely to see the single stack images. When you feel more confident on the surface try out the double stack (which is more fiddly).

Alexandra,
When I go all fiddly I tend to mess things up so I gotta learn to fiddle constructively.

Step at a time. Oh, yeah.
