Animation - AR12816 Flare- new/improved...
Captured this morning over a period of 1hr (each frame separated by 2 minutes).
Start 08:33 UTC
Interesting to see the flare progress like a lightning bolt threading through the magnetic loops.
A bit 'flickery' and there's a bit of image rotation.... but hey....

Thanks for looking.

That's a dramatic reconstruction of the events that AR2816 is doing, so thanks vm for sharing the excellent animation.

Re: Animation - AR12816 Flare
Wow, fantastic detail, love it!
I've recently been exploring video editor software in regards to doing animations. In Davinci Resolve, there are some easy ways (once you learn Davinci's quirky work flow) of removing all rotating, flickering, etc., as well as interpolating the frames into a higher frame rate. If ya like I can run this through my workflow really quickly to show you what I mean.
Great images though, thanks for sharing!

Re: Animation - AR12816 Flare
Hi Stu.
I think you’ve captured an example of a “two-ribbon” flare. Some quick investigation via “The Google” shows observations that are similar to yours. For example: https://www.on.kitp.ucsb.edu/online/so ... etcher.pdf
Cheers.

Re: Animation - AR12816 Flare
Hi Magnus,
It’s a 150mm mod based on Lunt 35 etalons. It works out at f14 native.
