Hi Guys
Nice and sunny today albeit really high cloud that made focus soft and wobbly
I took a few images and have added some of my gear for fun the adapter for my Quantum arrived today so I can control it from the PC
Hope you like them

Very nice shots Richard! The sky in your picture looks like mine this morning, i'm hoping it clears up a bit. Nice to see a picture of the setup too.

Re: 24-04-2021 High Cloud but Good Day
Hi Guys
Many thanks for your kind comments, it was a little weird as the sky looked nice just visually, however when you obscured the sun you could clearing see the high cloud albeit not obvious. I also let the tube thermals settle for close to an hour before starting as the outside temp was 16c but inside the obsy the temp was still around 8c
Please ignore the tools on the floor, took them out of my car as I had it cleaned
It took a little patience waiting for the air movement to settle enough to see that you are as close to focus as possible, it was time consuming but great that you can enjoy the warmer weather
Everyone imaging at the moment are producing fantastic stuff, and it a joy to see the skills out there, if only mine were as good.
Rich

Richard:
A very good session through high clouds, usually difficult to focus.

Eric.

Re: 24-04-2021 High Cloud but Good Day
Hi Guys
I really enjoyed the session albeit the cloud issue, just a great day, been trying to split open Solarmax 60 Mk2 today for a focuser conversion.
Glad you liked the kit, yes it’s an AP1200, just love the mount, nothing quirky it just works, always on target, during the summer it’s my solar rig, in the Winter it does Deep Sky for me, nice and easy.
I am currently waiting to get one of the rising piers so I can get the scope a little higher, if you look at the piccy, you can see I have extended the plates however at nearly 10” long I had To try and stop vibration which I did with wooden struts and a raping band which is a ratchet type.
Does the job , polar align is spot on with ipolar. 10min subs no guiding required.
I consider myself to be very lucky getting it with no regrets on the cost, I class it as an investment
Thanks everyone
Rich

Rich,
Are you replacing the SMII 60 stock helical focuser with a Moonlite focuser?
