I very much like the first where the proms and a thin circle are highlighted.
Can you please explain how you achieve this? Do you take two different photos, or is it the same photo with a darker version over the light (prom) one?

yes, I make two films: one with just the contrasted disc (gamma 60) and the other with the saturated disc and the prominences clearly visible (gamma 25).
I then put the two resulting images together in photoshop by overlaying two layers.
for the second image, it is a single film with a gamma of 40
