28th April flare

Post by robert »

Sunny and breezy but 4 arcsec average seeing on the SSM. I collected frames at 30 second intervals for 1.5 hours but noticed some activity on GONG right at the end so I caught a small flare which shows up on the X ray plot as B1.2 at 12.40GMT.
Pleased despite poor seeing!
Robert

That is a really great catch even if only a small B class, it looks like a solar burp :)

Thanks Alexandra, definitely a burp. The previous hour of frames showed no movement at all!

Think, that tiny burp is many times more powerful than the entire global arsenal of nukes set off at once!, even at the Cold War strength.
