M Class flare 5-7-21

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Today just after 3:00pm local time ( EDT US ) as I was turning off the car to go into work I get an alert on my SpaceWeather Live app telling me of an occurring M class flare. I quickly check it out on the app and then open my SDO viewer app to see more on the flare. It's located in the NE at the area of the new active region, If it would have been an hour earlier I would have quickly grabbed a Coronado and took a look. But alas, a bit late. Still thanks to the SDO and GONG I did not entirely miss it.

Check out the images I saved.

Oh I see, you have to pay monthly, that's quite expensive. Which plan do you have James. I hate subscriptions.

You can find an app in the Android/IOS app store called "SpaceWeatherLive" that gives you these alerts. It's completely free.

Yes. It's free. I have it on my iPhone. It has proven quite useful.

I wish the GONG network had an app.

Thanks for the heads up and thanks for the app James. I'd not seen it before, and as a bonus it works on my coal powered not very smart phone too which is a bonus!
