May 9 2021 - Extreme Close up and HA shot
So seeing was fluttering from good to excellent so i decided to try my luck and go extreme. The white light images are shot using an Esprit 150 with a 2x and a 5x powermate. I am at the edge of maxing out the scopes useful magnification as focus was virtually impossible. Suddenly, a clear moment happened and I got what is probably the closest image of convection cells i have ever managed!
The Sunspot wasnt as good but when they are near the limb, they never are. Fingers crossed in about 3 days when I have a excellent seeing forecast, I will try again!
This is a quick look at AR12822
I have tons and tons of data to go through still!

Re: May 9 2021 - Extreme Close up and HA shot
Superb images Simon and definitely the best to date of the current action over the last two days.
That porridge-image shows such detail, as does the AR2822 captures as well.
Just shows what a little bit of decent seeing can do, as well as your available set-up's...
Thanks for sharing
Terry

I still have to go thru 400gb of data to find the clearest shots. I was so excited to see the convection cells that everything because secondary!

Oddly enough, so do I. The reason why I invert white light is to get a better look at the spots themselves. The convection cells when inverted always look super weird.

I would be really keen to maybe follow up on the sun spot, over the next 14 days and image every day, or twice a day, to see how that evolves with time. The weather/seeing conditions may not allow that though.
I think its time for you to buy another hard drive/SSD drive ??
Good luck !

Re: May 9 2021 - Extreme Close up and HA shot
WoW!!, absolutely stunning. All are awesome but the first one with the Esprit 150 is incredible. It looks like a pro image. I dream of imaging the granulation in such detail or actually seeing it! I would have guessed an 8" or bigger scope for this. Five thumbs up from me!
