May 9 2021 Observations. C class flare!
From Rock Hill SC. Session time is from 9:50am until 1:39pm EDT local time ( US ). The skies are mostly cloudy at first going to partly cloudy later in the session. Temp is 74F at session beginning and 79F at sessions end. Seeing is decent.
Coronado SolarMax II 60DS. 16x, 21.5x and 33x ( Ha )
Clouds interfered quite a bit early in the session, with me having to peer through and between them, I could see three plages. AR12822 is seen in the NE with an easy spot and a plage which at first was shaped like a jagged sickle. Later as the clouds thinned and cleared I got a flare alert while eating breakfast outside near the scope from my SpaceWeatherLive app on my iPhone. I went to the scope and noticed a bright point on the SE side of the plage. It's a C class flare! I watched as it quickly faded from view in just a few minutes. It had actually started before I started eating but was covered by clouds. I probably missed it at it's brightest point. In a much clearer sky I got a better view of AR12822 and in the wealth of detail I totally lost the sickle shape of before. The second plage is a tiny one in the SE. As the session waned it brightened considerably and got easier to see. The third is a larger more diffuse one on the south-central part of the disc. I can see a couple of small filaments south and southeast of it. I can also see filaments in the SE and north-central areas of the disc.
I can see three prominences. Some " sprigs " on the NW limb and one that resembles a rough loop on the SW limb. I see another on the SE limb.
The mottles are easy to see once the clouds cleared away.
Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x, 41.5x, 50x, 62.5x and 100x ( WL )
I was able to see 6 spots in AR12822 in the NE. The faculae is easily seen. The largest spot shows a double umbra surrounded by a well developed penumbra. I can also see a single spot amid a tiny patch of bright faculae in the SE. Ha shows a small plage there. Surprisingly I can see with difficulty a disturbance in the granulation field marking the faculae of the south central plage that was revealed in Ha. It's faint but seen with certainty. There's something there! :-)
The fine granulation is seen without difficulty.

Lovely report James. Missed that flar, clouds were here yesterday but managed a session today between rain and clouds. New spot on the lower South Eastern active region today as of the 10th May.

Re: May 9 2021 Observations. C class flare!
What an exciting session I don't think I got that C class alert, although the Hubby did say he received a weird alert about a radio burst on his phone. I need to check what he was looking at and see if his message was a bit garbled, new things always need polishing to get started

That may be what I got. Radio bursts often are caused by flares. Open it up and look for the graph. At the time I was observing, or eating yesterday the graph showed a C class flare in progress.
The M class flare of Friday said " Solar Flare alert "!

It was. And just out of the image is a table with lots of good food!! I was sitting at the table when I took the image of the scopes.
