AR12822 in Ha on May 11

Post by minhlead »

The AR12822 is becoming more beautiful by the day. I am experimenting a new sharpening technique, what do you guys think?

It looks fabulous :hamster: :bow

I would love to see a positive version though, I bet it would be superb :)

There you go. If you didn't say I wouldn't know positive image can have such contrast. Think I'll stick with positive from now on. The prominences is harder to pull out without bringing out the noise though.

Hi Minh,
Its' well-good to see both versions as coloured and positive, as well as negatives too. The detail so often seems to change between those.

Very well captured and processed.

Thanks for sharing
Terry

To my eye the mono positive photo seems to have the best contrast. But it seems no one cares about mono (when I post the photo anywhere but Solarchat). So colourized is kinda mandatory :(

Yes I understand what you mean, but here on SolarChat, many of us have very discerning-eyes and like to pick-up on fine detail which shows between the coloured and non-coloured versions.

Obviously bearing in mind the use of mono-cameras, the coloured versions often shown here, are of course of the artists taste - and we see many variations of the artistes ideas, which is fabulous and interesting...

Cheers
Terry

Yep, My eye still does not have the ability to see the fine differences between the images. It'll take time, I guess. I am honored this chosen as SPOD for today :D

Indeed Minh that's a well earned SPOD, so well done.
And you say, "Yep, My eye still does not have the ability to see the fine differences between the images ", well if anything like me, I'm down to just the one good eye, whilst the other is now totally blurred for computer screen, except for the large screens in the observatory.

Am awaiting an optic appointment for a likely Cataract change...

Cheers and have a good night
Terry

Well done, Minh, congrats!
I like the way you do processing monochrome, but be careful with that Topaz SharpenAI. Keep it balanced before ARTifacts appear.
best regards

The close up is a few post down from the OP.

Best of luck and clear skies everyone.

I tried to upscale the image with topaz tool and the amount of detail is just mind numbling. But I think this counts more toward an artwork rather than a astrophoto. But it sure does look cool ain't it?

Stunning detail! Your seeing conditions must be incredibly good.
Do you image from within a city or a rural location?
Congratulations on your captures and your skills at processing! :bow

Thanks.
I capture it from my rooftop observatory in center of a megacity (Hanoi, Vietnam's capital). The seeing is not so good since I shoot through concretes building and galvanized metal sheet roof and ambient temperature is very hot (+40* C). I'd rate my seeing as 5-6/10. 90% of this coming from processing. The sharpening and upscaling tool (Topaz tools) work extremely well but since they are "AI tool" and sharpening/enlarging using machine learning, I think a lot of these detail coming from the software itself. So not very scientific and more of an artwork. But interesting nevertheless.

Nice close up. I tried topaz tools and couldn’t get decent results.
